John Mariucci

Born May 8, 1916 in Eveleth, Minnesota, was Hockey Hall of Fame Defenseman John Mariucci. Mariucci started off his career as a winner leading the squad to an undefeated AAU National Championship in 1940. John played college ice hockey at the University of Minnesota. Turning pro that year, Mariucci played briefly for Providence of the American League before joining the Chicago Black Hawks for the balance of the season. He also went on in an executive role with the Minnesota North Stars, and coached the Golden Gophers. Mariucci was inducted into the inaugural 1973 class of the United States Hockey Hall of Fame and was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame as a builder in 1985.
