Walter Johnson

Born November 6, 1887, in Humboldt, Kansas, was Baseball Hall of Fame Pitcher Walter Johnson. This Washington Senators mound legend helped the team win the 1924 World Series in seven games. Johnson was a five-time ERA title holder and a three-time Triple Crown Champion with two League MVPs to his credit. Walter had an amazing career ERA of 2.17 with 417 wins. The right-handed pitcher threw for Washington from 1907 to 1927. He later functioned as the manager of the Senators from 1929 through 1932 and of the Cleveland Indians from 1933 through 1935.

Candy Cummings

Born October 17, 1848, in Ware, Massachusetts, was Baseball Hall of Fame Pitcher William "Candy" Cummings. This legend's claim to fame was that he is credited with creating the curveball. Between 1872 and 1875, he pitched in the National Association of Professional Base Ball Players with the New York Mutuals, Baltimore Canaries, Philadelphia White Stockings, and Hartford Dark Blues. He had a career ERA of 2.49 and won 63% of his games started with 259 career strike outs.

Leon Day

Born October 30, 1916, in Alexandria, Virginia, was Baseball Hall of Fame Pitcher/Fielder Leon Day. He was a very versatile athlete and was known to play every position on the field well, but he preferred to stay away from catcher. This legend was a nine-time Negro League All-Star. Day played with the Baltimore Black Sox, Newark Eagles, and Baltimore Elite Giants during his career. Leon holds the record in the Negro and Puerto Rican league for strikeouts in a game, and appeared in the most East–West All-Star Games.

Fred Clarke

Born October 3, 1872, in Winterset, Iowa, was Baseball Hall of Fame Outfielder and Manager Fred Clarke. Fred was with the Louisville Colonels and the Pittsburgh Pirates during his career including being part of the 1909 World Series Championship team. The left-handed batter was the player-manager for four of the nine pennants in Pittsburgh franchise history. His career batting average was a stellar .312 and he had 1015 RBIs during his time in the MLB.

Buck Ewing

Born October 17, 1859, in Hoagland, Ohio, Baseball Hall of Fame Catcher William "Buck" Ewing. This legend was the National League home run leader in 1883. He played on the MLB rosters of the NY Giants and Cincinnati Reds and was manager of both teams as well during his career. His career batting average was .303, and he hit 71 home runs with 883 RBIs before he was done playing.

Jake Beckley

Born August 4, 1867, in Hannibal, Missouri was Baseball Hall of Fame First Baseman, Jake Beckley. This legend had a MLB record 23,767 putouts ; career .308 hitter as he played for the Pittsburgh Alleghenys, Pittsburgh Pirates, New York Giants, Cincinnati Reds, and the St. Louis Cardinals.

Tim Raines

Born September 16, 1959, in Sanford, Florida Baseball Hall of Fame Left Fielder, Tim Raines. This solid fielder, hitter and base stealing sensation was a seven-time MLB All-Star. He was a World Series Champion in 1996, 98, 2005 and the National League batting champion 1986. Raines played for the Montreal Expos, New York Yankees, and Chicago White Sox.

Jocko Conlan MLB HOF Umpire

Born December 6, 1899, in Chicago, Illinois, was Baseball Hall of Fame Center Fielder Jocko Conlan. This legend played for his hometown Chicago White Sox for two seasons but made the Hall of Fame as an MLB Umpire. Conlan was behind the plate in six World Series and five All-Star games.

Bid McPhee

Born November 1, 1859, in Massena, New York, was Baseball Hall of Fame Second Baseman Bid McPhee. This legend spent all 18 years of his MLB career with the Cincinnati Reds organization. A great fielder of his era, McPhee was the last known second baseman not to wear a glove in the field.

Tony Cloninger

Born August 13, 1940, in Cherryville, North Carolina, was MLB legendary Pitcher and Coach, Tony Cloninger. Tony famously hit 2 Grand Slams in one game. This fireball hurler took the mound for the Milwaukee/Atlanta Braves, Cincinnati Reds, and the St. Louis Cardinals during his 7-year MLB career. Cloninger enjoyed his best year for the 1965 Braves, with career highs in wins (24), strikeouts (211), ERA (3.29), complete games (16), innings (279) and games started (40). Perhaps it was his offense, yes a pitcher with offensive production, that is what he is remembered for most. On On July 3, 1966, in the Braves' 17–3 win over the Giants at Candlestick Park in San Francisco, Cloninger helped his team's cause with two grand slams and nine RBIs, both of which still stand as Braves franchise single-game bests.
