May 26 Hockey History

1988 - The Edmonton Oilers establish an NHL tradition by winning the Cup and getting a team photo right after doing so.

1944 - Six weeks shy of his 16th birthday, Joe Nuxhall becomes the youngest person to play in a major league contest in this century.
2013 - Javier Baez of the Daytona Cubs (Florida State League) hits four home runs in a 9-6 win over the Fort Myers Miracle.

This Day in Baseball June 16 - Seaver No - Hitter

June 16, 1978 - Tom Seaver pitches the only no-hitter of his brilliant career. Seaver strikes out three and walks three as the Cincinnati Reds defeat the St. Louis Cardinals, 4 - 0, at Riverfront Stadium. Seaver had barely missed pitching no-hitters on three previous occasions, losing the bid each time in the 9th inning.

June 14 Baseball-Reference Bullpen

The BR Bullpen has some MLB history for June 14 with items such as:
1876 - George Hall of the Philadelphia Athletics becomes the first major league player to hit for the cycle.
1952 - Boston Braves pitcher Warren Spahn ties the National League record of Jim Whitney with 18 strikeouts in an 15-inning game.

Art Coulter

Born May 31, 1909 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, was Hockey Hall of Fame Defenseman, Art Coulter. Art played in the NHL for the New York Rangers and Chicago Black Hawks, during his brilliant 12 year career. His great play helped him become a two time Stanley Cup Champion, as Coulter helped the Black Hawks win their first championship in 1933–34 and the Rangers to a Cup win in 1939–40.
