George Davis

Born August 23, 1870, in Cohoes, New York, was Baseball hall of Fame Shortstop and manager, George Davis. This legend famously played with the New York Giants and won a World Series in 1906 on the Chicago White Sox. George early on was an outfielder and a steady, dependable hitter for the Cleveland Spiders of the National League from 1890-92. He is ranked among the top 100 players of all time in several statistical categories. Davis was a switch hitter.

Mickey Welch

Born July 4, 1859, in Brooklyn, New York, was Baseball Hall of Fame Pitcher, Mickey Welch. Mickey was the third hurler in MLB history to reach 300 career wins. He played on the Troy Trojans and the New York Giants. He played 13 seasons in the major leagues and was very successful with an effective curveball, a change-up, and a version of the screwball. During his 13 major league seasons, he posted 20 or more wins nine times, seven in succession. "Smiling Mickey", was on the Giants in 1889 when they had the best record and the claim of the top team in pro baseball.

Johnny Bench and his amazing MLB career

Born December 7, 1947, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Johnny Bench was a Baseball Hall of Fame catcher. This legend was a fourteen-time MLB All-Star. He was voted as the NL MVP, and he was on the roster of two Cincinnati Reds World Series Championship teams, where he has the Series MVP in one of them. Bench was also the Sporting News Player of the Year, and to compliment his hitting, he won ten Gold Gloves from behind the plate. As a well-rounded player, Johnny twice led the National League in home runs and thrice in RBIs. At the time of his retirement in 1983, he held the major league record for most home runs hit by a catcher.

David Ortiz

Born November 18, 1975, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, was Baseball Hall of Fame Designated Hitter David Ortiz. This legend was a ten-time MLB All-Star and won three World Series Championships. Ortiz was also a Silver Slugger winner and a Home Run Derby Champion. His explosive power with a bat in his hand helped elevate the Boston Red Sox to the top spot in the MLB rankings for much of his career. 541 Career Home Runs with 2472 hits and a .286 Batting Average make David Ortiz a great player in the game's history. Ortiz played for the Minnesota Twins and the Red Sox during his 20-year career in the Bigs.

Bobby Wallace

Born November 4, 1873, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was Baseball Hall of Fame Infielder Bobby Wallace. This legend played shortstop and third base at a high level for the Cleveland Spiders, St Louis Cardinals, and the St Louis Browns in an amazing 25-year career in MLB. In over 8600 at-bats, Wallace stroked 2309 hits and 34 home runs while carrying a .268 lifetime batting average.

Roger Connor

Born July 1, 1857, in Waterbury, Connecticut was Baseball Hall of Fame First Baseman, Roger Connor. Roger had the career Home Run record of 138 stood for 23 years. Connor was NL batting champion 1885 and NL RBI leader 1889 with the New York Giants. Oddly enough though he played for several teams, Connor was responsible for the New York Gothams becoming known as the Giants. His play in New York was the longest of all the teams he played on but also found on the rosters of the Philadelphia Phillies (1892), and the St. Louis Browns (1894–1897).

Jim Kaat

Born November 7, 1938, in Zeeland, Michigan, was Baseball Hall of Fame Pitcher Jim Kaat. This legend won 16 Gold Gloves and was a three-time MLB All-Star. Kaat took the mound for the Washington Senators, the Minnesota Twins, the Chicago White Sox, Philadelphia Phillies, New York Yankees, and the St Louis Cardinals during his 27-year MLB career. He helped the Cardinals win the 1982 World Series and had a career ERA of 3.45 with 2461 strikeouts and 17 saves.

Denis Potvin

Born October 29, 1953, in Ottawa, Ontario, was Hockey Hall of Fame Defensemen, Denis Potvin. This legend was the number one overall selection in the 1973 NHL Amateur Draft by the New York Islanders. Potvin would go on to have a productive NHL career scoring 310 goals, with 742 assists, and becoming a seven-time All-Star. Denis is also a three-time James Norris Memorial Trophy winner as the NHL's top defenseman. He was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1991.

Lou Brock

Born June 18, 1939, in El Dorado, Arizona, was Baseball Hall of Fame Left Fielder Lou Brock. Lou started his MLB journey as a Chicago Cubs but after three years spent the next 15-years wearing the uniform of the St. Louis Cardinals. Brock batted ,293 for his career, and had 3023 hits with over 900 stolen bases. He is a former MLB Player of the Year, played in 6 All-Star games and won two World Series titles.

Walter Johnson

Born November 6, 1887, in Humboldt, Kansas, was Baseball Hall of Fame Pitcher Walter Johnson. This Washington Senators mound legend helped the team win the 1924 World Series in seven games. Johnson was a five-time ERA title holder and a three-time Triple Crown Champion with two League MVPs to his credit. Walter had an amazing career ERA of 2.17 with 417 wins. The right-handed pitcher threw for Washington from 1907 to 1927. He later functioned as the manager of the Senators from 1929 through 1932 and of the Cleveland Indians from 1933 through 1935.
