April 3, 1997, the New York Rangers defeated the Boston Bruins 5-4 as Number 99 Wayne Gretzky tallied the 2,700th point of his NHL career. He was 850 points ahead of the legendary Number 9 Gordie Howe who was in 2nd place at that time. Gretzky finished his career with an incredible 2,857 points registered in the NHL.
