Born April 21, 1965, in Carman, Manitoba, was Hockey Hall of Fame Goalie Ed Belfour. Ed played collegiate hockey at the University of North Dakota where he helped the school win the NCAA championship in the 1986–87 season. Getting into the NHL was not a sure footed journey though, as the following year, Belfour signed as a free agent with the Chicago Black Hawks, but was bounced back and forth back to the IHL's Saginaw Hawks. Once he established himself in the National Hockey League though Ed became known as one of the best goal tenders of all-time. His 484 wins rank fifth all-time among NHL net minders.
