Garvey was a First Baseman and Third Baseman wearing the number on the Los Angeles Dodgers (1969-82) San Diego Padres (1983-87) for 19 seasons as he batted 0.294 for his career, had an On Base percentage of 0.446, with 272 career Home Runs, and 4 Gold Glove Awarded Seasons. He was well known for his timely hitting, solid fielding, and enormous forearms.
