April 7, 1913 - Here is a truly historic Sports moment. It was on this day that the New York Highlanders baseball club played their first game being called the New York Yankees. It took place at Griffith Stadium in Washington D.C.. President Woodrow Wilson famously through out the first pitch as the hometown Senators doubled up the Yanks 2-1.
