Four Memorable Wildcats

Jerseys honoring the seniors on the 1991–92 Kentucky Wildcats men's basketball team, known as The Unforgettables, hang in Rupp Arena. Photo is courtesy of Wikimedia Commons from contributor ACDixon.

The four Wildcats that are memoralized are Sean Woods, Deron Feldhaus, John Pelphrey, and Richie Farmer. As you can see by the banners, these fellas played some ball together. Their story is touching, they are not remembered because they were the stars of a championship team. No, these four 1992 seniors, all Kentucky natives (except Woods who hails from Indiana), endured the early personal eligibilty years of being on Wildcat teams that were suspended from post season play due to violations by a previous player in 1987. The four hung in there, knowing that 1992 was their one shot to play in the NCAA tournament. They along with their other teammates, including Sophomore Jamaal Mashburn, had a nice run in the tourney. It lasted all the way to the regional final where they took a very good, and heavily favored Duke team to Overtime, and then lost on a last second Chritian Laettner made shot at just before the buzzer.
