The image of the day is a football card depicting the Tennessee Volunteers Quarterback from 1928-30, Bobby Dodd.
Dodd was a good QB for the Vols as in his Sophomore season, he led Tennessee to the National Title. However that is not what got him the the pigskin prestige we remember him as. The wiley signal caller turned in his leather helmet for a whistle and went in the coaching profession. He was an assistant at Tennessee until in 1945 he took the head coaching position at Georgia Institute of Technology, or as we now know the school by, Georgia Tech. Dodd coached there from 1945 thru 1966 as he accunulated a stellar 165–64–8 record. He also serve as the school's AD from 1950 till 1976, and coached baseball for many years. Bobby Dodd had such an impact in athletics at GT that they named their football stadium after him, where the Ramblin' Wreck plays all of their home games. They named the stadium in his honor in 1988 just months before he passed.
