The book - Got Your Number

The easiest description of the work is that it is a book by ESPN's Greeny and Hembo on the legends of sports and the numbers we most associate with them.

At its core, GOT YOUR NUMBER is about creation of a 100 sports debates, but more broadly it represents a celebration of the numbers that often provide the most visceral parts of any sports legend’s identity: Uniform numbers, iconic streaks, memorable accomplishments, and the lofty statistics that cast long shadows over the sports they play. Numbers dominate and illuminate the sports landscape and have become an essential part of sports currency. But not all numbers are created equal. The numbers highlighted in this book are some of the most essential digits in all of sports and the people who lay claim to them have a coveted spot herein. Whatever your sport, whoever you support, welcome to the place where these completely subjective arguments are finally decided once and for all. Subjectively and without apology.

The authors discuss the following athletes and more:

  • Tom Brady
  • Wayne Gretzky
  • Isiah Thomas
  • Jack Niklaus
  • Michael Phelps
  • Jesse Owens
  • Pat Summitt
  • Mean Joe Greene
  • Serena Williams
  • Babe Didrikson
  • Rebecca Lobo
  • Martina Navrtilova
  • Chris Evert
  • Tiger Woods
  • Rocky Marciano
  • Arnold Palmer
  • Michael Jordan
  • Roberto Clemente
  • Jack Lambert
  • Jack Ham
  • Mario Lemiuex

Conclusion

Special thanks to Mike Greenberg, Hembo, and Pubicity Pressbox for sending us a copy of the book to prepare the interview with
