December 8, 1955 - 21st Heisman Trophy Award was won by Ohio State Halfback, Number 40, Howard Cassady
December 8, 1955 - Brooklyn Dodgers catcher Number 39, Roy Campanella wins his 3rd MVP Award. Of course it didn't hurt that the Dodgers also won the World Series that year.
December 8, 1961 - Syracuse Nationals Point Guard, Number 21, Larry Costello scored an NBA record 32 consecutive points without a miss
December 8, 1961 - Philadelphia Warriors center, Number 13, Wilt Chamberlain scores 78 points in 151-147 3OT defeat to LA Lakers at Philadelphia Civic Center; 2nd highest game total in the NBA history
December 8, 1973 - 39th Heisman Trophy Award was won by Penn State Running back, Number 22, John Cappelletti
December 8, 1977 - 43rd Heisman Trophy Award was won by Texas Running back, Number 20, Earl Campbell
December 8, 1987 - Philadelphia Flyers' Number 27, Ron Hextall becomes 1st goalie to actually score a goal
December 8, 2007 - 73rd Heisman Trophy Award was won by Florida Quarterback, Number 15, Tim Tebow
December 8, 2018 - 84th Heisman Trophy Award was won by Oklahoma Quarterback, Number 1, Kyler Murray
