Greatest MLB Number 85s by Stats

We will make one special note about the MLB Number 85. The St. Louis Cardinals have placed this number away in retirement in honor of August Busch Jr at a celebration on April 13, 1984. Busch purchased the Cardinals in 1953. He had assumed ownership of Anheuser-Busch Breweries after his parents had passed away. He owned the company until his own death in 1989. The Cardinals chose the number 85 to remember their leader as that was his age when they held the ceremonies.

As far as player, there are really not very many that have ever worn the uniform number of 85 in the MLB. It is another tough chore as for starters there is not a help of having any players in the Baseball Hall of Fame nor any teams that have retired the number. We are going to simply list all of the players that wore the digits on the list below. We do not have all of the players from some of the Negro Leagues in place yet but when we do we will certainly update the list so please excuse us on this.

  • Charlie Barnes
  • Luis Cessa
  • Trent Giambrone
  • Sean Gilmartin
  • Jonathan Heasley
  • Alejandro Kirk
  • Che-Hsuan Lin
  • Dustin May
  • Lastings Milledge
  • Stephen Nogosek
  • Kaleb Ort
  • Bruce Zimmermann
