What land machines travel faster than an IndyCar? Not many, as these are some of the most high-tech pieces of transportation equipment on the planet. Tim Coffeen grew up working on and building these race cars and made a lifetime of friendships in the race of life! He shares some of those interesting stories and educates his cousin Joe Ziemba and me on IndyCar from inside the pits!

On the crew of 7 IndyCar Championships

Tim Coffeen may not be a household name in the sports world, but he should be as not many people on this big blue ball can say that they have been a champion at their sports highest level on seven different occassions. Tim can as he and his mates on the Haas-Newman race team held that title that often in Indy Car racing over Tim's career.

The Newman part of the race team name belongs to Paul Newman of whom Tim personally knew and worked for and has some pretty cool stories to share with us in the podcast.

The Drivers that Mr. Cofffeen has worked with include Mario Andretti, Michael Andretti and Nigel Mansell. He has also rubbed shoulders with the Unsers, Foyts and others in racing royalty. Remember these drivers trust guys like Tim with their very lives as they speed through courses sometimes in excess of 230 Miles Per Hour. There is a special bond of racers and their teams and with the whole racing community and we are sure glas Tim was able to share some of that with us.

Tim is humble through out his conversations and remembers starting off as a 15 year old kid who hitch hiked to Indianapolis Intrenational Speedway and hung around there every day until they gave him odd jobs of pushing cars, cleaning parts and eventually turning wrenches.

Tim Coffeen shares a true rags to riches racing dream story of his adventurs on the track and in the pits as these magnificent machines and their talented drivers performed one of the most dangerous jobs in sports, Indy Car Racing.

Please enjoy the podcast presentation above.
